I LOVE TYPOGRAPHY!
Typography will always be my first love in Design. I love teaching my students all the basics and keywords, looking at the type as an art form rather than just words on a page.
INTRODUCTION TO TYPOGRAPHY
These 2-page A4 worksheets are aimed at the basics of typography, introducing new definitions and keywords while providing some space for students to draw and create their own typography.
Throughout the 2 sheets students will:
Define the words typography, typeface, and font
Understand the difference between typography, typeface, and fonts
Apply knowledge of serif, sans serif, script, and decorative typeface styles by drawing their own
Create their own name design using different style letters
Connect keywords used in typography to their definition
Apply this knowledge by labeling different styled letters
They can be approached in 2 ways - alongside teaching and discussion or as a research assignment where students find out the answers independently to then complete the 2 pages. THIS MAKES IT A GREAT RELIEF TASK! just FYI this is what I have used it for in the past.
